5 Tips For Finding The Right Karate Studio

1. What does that facility offer?

It is important to know what the facility offers because this is the place where your child will be spending a lot of their time. As a parent, you want to be sure that the facility is clean, safe, and has an engaging learning environment. It is also important to know if the facility has parent viewing, and when the viewing is open. Is the parent viewing always open, or only once in a while? With open parent viewing, you can know what your child is doing at every moment during their class. As you know what they are doing during their class you can better be involved in your child’s learning process.

2. What Is The Size Of The Class?

The size of the class should be a determining factor when choosing the right karate studio. When looking at the size of the class you need to make sure that it is: not too big, and not too small. You don’t want a big class size because the other students could be very distracting to your child, and the teacher will have less time to focus on your child individually. On the other hand, you also don’t want too small of a class size. This is because with a small class size your child won’t have the motivation of other students; when children see other children do a certain skill it helps them to see they CAN do the skill they are trying to do.

3. What Are The Extras Required For The Year End Show?

I’ll just say it – karate can get expensive. With this in mind, it is valuable to know what other costs you will have to pay when your child has a show or a belt test. When the cost is little to none, you know the studio is keeping you in mind and wants the best (and least-expensive) experience for your child.  At Bravo, there is no show fee, all tickets are included, and we even provide a performance shirt for your chid to wear.

4. What is the studio’s perspective of karate?

Some think that taking karate is all about learning how to fight; others think that taking karate is too help you focus. You need to make sure that the reason you are signing your child up for karate is the SAME reason that the studio has decided to teach karate. When the reasons are the same you can be sure that your child is being taught the things that you would want them to be taught.

5. Can I Get Immediate Assistance And Customer Service?

In many studios, the teacher or the studio owner conducts classes and does the administration. By trying to do two jobs at once, the class may suffer as the teacher has to use class time for customer service issues, or the studio may have no customer service available if the teacher is in a class. To have a good experience it is important to choose a studio that can assist you with details like schedules, even if a teacher is occupied in a class. Our studios have office staff on hand during all regular class times, so you can get immediate assistance.
